When her father dies, Alice contacts her flashy mother Mrs. Martyn, who, with her theatrical agent, Louis Fitch, arranges to get Alice into a dancing act in New York, which proves a success. Four years later, at Monte Carlo, Mrs. Martyn and Fitch scheme to trap a wealthy Italian, Signor Castelli, into a marriage proposal with the innocent Alice and afterwards blackmail him. Alice, however, meets Maxwell, an ex-football star, who falls in love with her. Eventually, Alice realizes the true natures of her mother and Fitch, the blackmailers are exposed, and Alice and Maxwell become engaged.
